Designed in 1963 by Ilmari Tapiovaara for Laukaan Puu, Finland, this “Hongisto” dining set is a refined example of Tapiovaara’s commitment to honest materials and functional design.
Crafted in solid pine, the table features a softened-edge rectangular split top, separated by visible dowels - a detail typical of Tapiovaara’s joinery, creating a subtle floating effect.
Paired with six matching Hongisto dining chairs, also in solid pine, with shaped backrests and seats that echo the table’s light, architectural construction.
The set retains its original varnish and shows gentle surface wear and tonal variation consistent with age and use.
